2013 is the Livingstone bicentennial. The 200th anniversary of the birth of David Livingstone is a unique opportunity to inspire greater Missionary vision, Evangelistic zeal and enthusiasm for applying the Lordship of Christ to all areas of life.
The sufferings and sacrifices of Dr. David Livingstone, and his perseverance in the face of overwhelming odds, is a most inspiring example of excellence. Missionary pioneer pathfinder, Dr. David Livingstone was the best friend Africa ever had. He dedicated his life to ending the slave trade and opening up Africa for the Gospel.
Inspired by William Carey's challenge: "Expect great things from God! Attempt great things for God!" Frontline Fellowship is launching a series of Great Commission projects.
Great Commission
We began this year with an intensive three-week Great Commission Course which drew participants from as far afield as Australia, America, Mozambique, Malawi, Namibia and Nigeria. The GCC included: 62 lectures/presentations, 14 Devotions, 12 films, 8 practicals, 6 workshops, 3 day trips, 2 radio ministries and 30 outreaches, including participants ministering at 9 different Sunday morning church services, outreaches at taxi ranks, bus stops, traffic lights, prisons, hospitals, in townships and door-to-door in Muslim and Hindu areas.
Africa Overland Mission
We then received and off-loaded a 17 tonne container of Bibles and books for free distribution throughout Africa. Now we have launched a 7 month, 11 country, Africa Overland Mission. Tonnes of Bibles, Gospel booklets, Discipleship Training materials, audio-visual materials, and manuals have been prepared, packaged, pre-positioned and are being transported by this team for a series of Evangelistic outreaches, Discipleship Training Seminars, Great Commission Seminars, and Reformation Conferences.
Africa For Christ
The Christian Action Network now includes 100 members, representing 4,000 congregations or ministries and 2 million Christians in 15 African nations (Burundi, Cameroon, Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Zambia). A special Coalition on Revival Reformation FIRE Manual has been compiled for Leadership Training Courses with CAN members and many thousands of copies of 95 Theses for Reformation Today leaflets have been printed up for strategic distribution throughout the continent.
Livingstone 200
This Africa Overland Mission is the first of a series of initiatives being launched by Frontline Fellowship during the Livingstone bicentennial. To follow in the footsteps in David Livingstone, building on the solid foundations he laid and harvesting in the areas where David Livingstone first ploughed the hard stony ground and planted the Gospel seed.
